“I invite you to explore new perspectives in cosmology for the world we desire, imagine, and are capable of building.”
—Marcie Clark
Are you satisfied with the world we have built? I am baffled. We produce awe-inspiring technology, an abundance of brilliant and creative individuals, a mind-boggling circulation of wealth, and yet our collective suffering increases rather than decreases. Homelessness is at a rate I have never witnessed before in my lifetime, and our ground-breaking medical advancements are inaccessible to the majority. This question challenges our systems and the values we build them on.
We all have a coping mechanism. For years, I thought mine, perusing ancient astrological texts and examining my own chart from every possible theoretic angle, a rather unhealthy escape. But then a pattern appeared. One that deviated wildly from the modern astrological perspectives. And yet, one that spoke to that nagging, ever-present question, “are you satisfied with the world we have built?” As the pattern crystallized, a hypothesis formed.
Circe’s Code – A Hypothesis for Your Consideration
Hidden within the Placidus house system lies a pattern of civic values and structures. A pattern where archetypes infer civic agreements rather than personality traits and predestined fates. It is from this lens, the chart becomes a tool of knowledge and therefore one of power. It offers a structure for understanding how we might each contribute to the creation of free, just and flourishing societies. In an all-too-mundane world, the prospect feels magical. For what do we truly crave? Is it money, success and power? Or is it sovereignty and the freedom to pursue wonder in the mundane.
Circe, long associated with sovereignty, truth and transformation, acts as a guiding metaphor. In this hypothesis, her archetype reminds us to be vigilant in the pursuit of truth, constructive transformation and sovereignty, ensuring the integrity of the work. For this reason, the name chosen for this sojourn into zodiacal philosophy is Circe’s Code .
The System
The Placidus house system of the western tropical zodiac is constructed of six axes. Each axis represents an agreement. Like Don Miguel Ruiz’s The Four Agreements, they are not mandates to be forced on one another. Instead, they are something we tend to mature into and choose of our own accord, because we have grown to see the wisdom in them. These agreements act as lines of respect.
Each axis contains two poles and each pole corresponds to a house. Together, the poles characterize two dimensions of each agreement:
- respect for what is necessary for our own thriving, and
- respect for what is necessary for society’s flourishing.
The houses naturally falling on the northern hemisphere of the chart represent the components indicative of self care. Whereas, those in the southern hemisphere are indicative to societal care.
Because the two components are polar opposites, they hold distinct and conflicting needs. To help us understand these differences, each house corresponds to a zodiacal creed illuminating key aspects of the sector of life it represents. The planetary archetype associated with each sign, is representative of skills to cultivate, while the sign itself is a philosophy to adopt. The line of respect between the two poles is the deliberate practice of achieving balance between individual and societal needs.
With twelve houses and twelve distinct needs, compartmentalizing these philosophies becomes essential. It protects us from historically harmful extremes in dogma. The result is healthy, balanced, resilient societal structures in which everyone’s basic needs are met, and through sincerity, ingenuity and contribution, individuals can thrive for as long as they choose to invest in the effort.

The Hypothesis in Practice
A Framework for Shaping Your Own Sovereignty
Circe’s Codex is a dual system:
- a universal civic code; and
- an individual strategic blueprint.
The universal code which is mapped through the natural chart, its houses, signs, and planetary rulers, describes the values and social functions required for a free and cooperative society. It is a pattern of self-governance, contribution, and ethical participation.
The personal natal chart provides a blueprint for integration into the larger pattern, without sacrificing individuality. It provides for strategic positioning of the individual for the pursuit of self-actualization and meaningful contribution.
Circe’s Code is dedicated to articulating this framework with intellectual rigor drawing from history, myth, governance theory, and philosophy in the pursuit of freedom and social coherence. Each client engagement is a collaborative inquiry into how symbolic patterns can illuminate the challenges of self-direction, responsibility, and purposeful action.
For individuals who operate within a high-complexity environment, whether in leadership, culture-making, or the quiet stewardship of legacy, this approach provides a rare analytic instrument. One which facilitates informed, ethical choice in a field of possibility.
This is not predictive astrology, nor a personality reading. It is a tool for sovereignty. It is is understanding where your influence is strongest, where your energy is best allocated, and how to structure your life around a pattern conducive to freedom, both personally and collectively.
The aim is not abstraction for its own sake, but a philosophical practice anchored in a simple premise:
a free society depends on individuals who understand both the architecture of the whole and the architecture of themselves.
